Denise Stump

Executive Vice President, Global Human Resources & Chief Ethics Officer

With a deep-seeded passion for the well-being and development of our associates, Denise has pioneered the innovative way we grow and care for our associates and their professional, personal, physical and financial health. She continually guides our cultural attributes and fosters the feeling of family in all we do.

Denise was named executive vice president in February 2003 and chief ethics officer in October 2013. She is responsible for worldwide human resources strategy and execution, including building leadership and organizational capability, ensuring HR operational excellence and creating a diverse and highly-engaged workforce.

Since joining the company in September 2000, she has served as vice president of technology & operations; vice president of human resources, North America; and senior vice president of human resources worldwide.

Prior to joining ScottsMiracle-Gro, Denise was director of human resources with the Ross Products Division of Abbott Laboratories.

Denise is a member of the Farms for City Kids Board of Directors and a former member of the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Directors. She received a bachelor’s degree in business and organizational communications from The Ohio State University.

Nothing brings a smile quicker to Denise’s face than when she is showing photographs of her grandsons. She is also an animal lover. Growing up, her parents raised German Shepherd dogs, and she absolutely fell in love with the breed. She had a Shepherd when her own children were young and eventually went on to breed and train German Shepherds. She thinks there is no dog more loyal and smart at the same time.

Among Denise’s favorite memories working at ScottsMiracle-Gro is the creation of the company’s pioneering LiveTotal Health program in 2006 with comprehensive benefits for associates’ personal, physical and financial health.
